Bootstrap sites without ACP files

Is there a way to bootstrap a site without using a ACP file? I would prefer to bootstrap sites using xml as it is more transparent. I downloaded a ACP for an existing site that I had setup and on inspecting the contents of the acp file it did not look readable. Is there any documentation or links to

Yes, there is. And again - like in my other responses - I point to the ImporterModuleComponent. If you look in the documentation you can see that the "location" can be either an ACP file or an XML one. Though the content of the ACP files is nothing else but this XML file and the blobs for all documents referenced in the XML.
