Bring aspects in uploader plus form

Hello,I have installed Uploader PlusI have my custom metadata in the form of aspects:I need to bring this up in uploader plus Allowed types which only shows up models and not aspects:Is there a way metadata from my aspect can come in the uploader form of uploader plus

Hi:

As a walkaround, you can define a custom type that include the corresponding aspect as mandatory.

are you suggesting to create model using Model Manager.?

I created a new model abc:model1 through Model Manger in Admin tools. Inside that I created Aspect and selected my aspect which has the metadata that I want. Dragged metadata one by one in Layout designer of the Aspect. This model showed up in Allowed Types of Uploader Plus. But my metadata didn't show up as expected.

Hi Sakshi Kochhar‌,

Allowed Types only shows the type so you need to create custom type instead of aspect in a model.

In that case, it is preferable doing it via bootstrap, where you can define different forms for Share view. Probably if you export the content model created in model manager, you only can see one of the forms. Check the following link:

Using Model Manager you won't be able to define aspects as mandatory for the custom type.

For that, follow ‌'s recommendation and define your model using xml.

The Change Type action has nothing to do with Uploader Plus.

You have to understand you can not change type freely. There are rules that are enforced by Alfresco, like, once you change from cm:content to your, lets say, custom:type, there is no way to change back to the original type.

Another one is that you can not change types between sibling types. The only way you can go is from parent to child.

I imagine, by the thread contenxt, that you uploaded a document, using Uploader Plus to set the type, and then you are trying to use the Change Type action to do another change.

If that is the case, my previous explanation would explain why it is not working.

Hi Douglas C. R. Paes‌,

I understand that we cannot go back to the parent in types. If I am in custom:type, I cannot go back to the parent or it's sibling since the option will not show up in the dropdown of Change Type.

But in my case, I am creating a plain text file, Change Type dropdown is showing my custom:type. And yet, it gives this message "Unable to change type of document"

In that case, the only way to identify what is wrong is by checking the log files, as ‌ already recommended.

Hi Douglas C. R. Paes

I am trying to log this by :

1) copying contents of alfresco.log and catalina.out into a new file

2) Changing Type in alfresco[which shows "Unable to change type of document"]

3) monitoring the difference between new file and log files

The difference shows empty as if nothing is logged by doing Change Type.

Is there any module I should turn on in log4j in order to capture this log?

Try your browser's Developer tools.

I guess you will be able to get useful information by checking the network tab and the console.

Ok, so, please, copy that nodeRef value, the one starting with "workspace://".

Go to the Admin Tools, Node Browser, paste that value in the texto box, select NodeRef in the combo just after it, and then click the Search button.

After that, you should see a screen containing some internal information, like path, type, properties, aspects.

Well, that is weird.

What I wanted to confirm is that you are dealing with a cm:content object.

Can you share you custom content model xml file?
