Some time ago, for Alfresco 4, I used this addon in a similar way of Alfresco Cloud (Alfresco » Login ).

Change Share locale | Alfresco Add-ons - Alfresco Customizations

Maybe some clues are inside the github code. The initial form is surely outdated, maybe the dashlet is in part reusable.
