Alfresco isn't starting due to this error:

Caused by:
org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'passwordEncoder' defined in class path resource [alfresco/authentication-services-context.xml]: Instantiation of bean failed; nested exception is java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError
Caused by:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError

The passwordEncoder bean cannot find one of it's dependant libraries. Has anything changed in your app-server setup other than trying to restore alfresco?

Nothing should have changed beside the full restore as described.

Were can I find this bean - just to check if it exists?

Searching alfresco-repository.jar showed that the bean defined in authentication-services-context.xml

So, why is Alfresco complaining?

Hi

This bean uses any security provider for MD4 hashing or tries to load one which is part of Alfresco to do this. It culd be this is missing. Make sure the appropriate security provider is on the class path.
