I see you're using a SpringProcessEngineFactoryBean. Have you tried using the CDI-counterpart for this? Don't think spring-beans will be registered automatically in the CDI-context…

I might asking you stupid question as this is my first experience with WAS. Doesn't sound good at all
Is there any setup on WAS i need to do prior to registered the spring-beans? I notice there are setting to preload the java class in WAS setting. Anything to do from there?

I'm not aware of any WAS-specific approach for activiti. The first problem you need to address is the Spring vs. CDI-approach you're using. How do you fetch the process-engine? What are you're dependencies?
