could u please explain me how can we use mail option in alfresco?where can we use it?Which are the possible places to use mail option?How to configure mail option in alfresco?Note:[Mail option is nothing but sending email and recieving email in Alfresco]pls reply me as soon as possible……

hi,
it is a difference in outgoing and incomming emials into alfresco.. Outgoing emails are working from the early realeases and all you need is to set up your outgoing SMTP server. See http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/E-mail_Configuration

Then you will be able to email users and notify them (manully or automatically) about changes in the repository.

Incomming emails are little bit more difficult since you need to set up an email server (since 2.9 I believe). The best is to start with
http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Email_Server_Configuration

You also need set up MX record for email server functionality.

If you handle this you will be able to recieve emails for each node in your repository (each node hes its own email ID and can have email alias too)

You'll also probably want to edit the hostname in the templates for the
outgoing email: you'll find them in the repository under the
Data Dictionary space.

Unfortunately, it's not straighforward to allow individual users to subscribe
to a space and so request notification by email of changes, but you
can set up RSS feeds to do pretty much the same thing, which is
probably a better solution in the long run.
