I am getting close on finishing out a tree page based on the AbstractTreePage. The formatting is pretty weird - does not look like Reindeer. The container on the LH side (the select component) seems to have some css styling but is is all in the HTML, not using a class or id. The tree components look like they all use classes to get their styling.

My question(s)

1) I am guessing that I need to write some custom CSS to control the styling to my needs or is this a matter of applying some Reindeer styling?

2) What is adding the style data in the HTML?

1) If you don't specify a style, VAADIN will use the default reindeer-css classnames. If you want custom styling, either override the reindeer styles CSS-classes or add new custom classnames.

2) Not sure what you're asking, can you rephrase? The css (reindeer) and custom css are included in the HEAD of the html. Any styles you add in the explorer style css files will be available. Nothing special is required, this is just plain CSS/HTML.
