Where is Category management and the shelf?

I am a newbie for alfresco environment and after a great work to install Alfresco community 2.1 (because of java bad configuration on my pc) I can't find shelf and category management under admin console..There are two icons but no functions linked to them.How can I add these objects in dashboard.I

Hi,

I'm not sure I understand what you can and can't access…

1 - Category Management is in the Admin Console, along with Manage system Users, Manage User Groups, Node Browser, etc. Are you looking in the same place?

2 - To view the Shelf, click the drop-down in the Navigator header and choose Shelf - that should show Clipboard, Recent Spaces and Shortcuts.

The problem is that under admin console

I see User management
but there is no category management…there is an icon but no link to the category management item

The same for the shelf

If I click navigator I can see navigator and opensearch but no the clickable shelf item

I tried to find the dashlets shelf.jsp and other category jsp to add delete etc categories are in the usual paths..

Why don't these items appear in my dashboard?

I suspect there's a problem either with the database or the indexes that's causing this - especially as you had a troubled installation.

One option is to try cleaning up (remove the database and recreate, delete the alfresco and alf_data folders) and installing again now that your Java environment has been fixed.

It's also worth looking in the log files, as any problem will be more evident there.

I tried this operation. I tried cleaning of database, I reinstalled from sractch the JDK Java and the alfresco. DB is the Hsdb.

The problem is the same!

Log is ok. I don't understand.
I tried to install all the package in other computers…the same…

I don't understand… I don't know … I need category management can be viewd and managed…

please give me any tips

Could you post some technical details about the systems you're installing on?

i.e. operating system, language, JDK version, etc. etc.

I found the reason of this missing: It is the italian language!

As I'm Italian, I selected italian as language at the login session and there is this problem.

If I log to alfresco by English language it is all ok. I can see the shelf dashlet and category and user management.

As I must use italian language for alfresco in my intranet company,

what can I do to resolve these missing items?

it seems a "light" edition of alfresco If I choose Italian :lol:
