Hi

What errors are reported in the log or on the console?
Particularly any warnings at start time.

What database are you using?

If it is not hypersonic the odds are very much that all should have been well. The DB and content store data should be fine. The index also is most likely to be fine and would be checked for consistenct when alfresco starts up in any case.

We're using mysql 5+

I've looked at the database by converting a copy to csv and everything seems to be fine.

But as I said we just can't login none of our usernames and passwordss work, eventhough I see the usernames in the database.

If I could just get it to accept the login in version 1.5 it would be terrific.

Are you starting the server from the same location? It sounds like Alfresco maybe can't find the lucene index files - they are in ./alf_data/lucene-indexes by default. You could try rebuilding the indexes, they are plenty of forum posts on the simple steps to do this.
