Hi,

To give a short update on my tests, let me inform you that I managed to map the Alfresco repository onto a drive of my W2K laptop. And, surprise, surprise: I can smbmount the repository onto a directory on my linux box.

Now, how did I do that?

I don't know.

I executed exactly the same commands in exactly the same sequence today. The only difference may have been that when I logged on to my account and started the Alfresco server, my laptop had not received an IP address. Could this have fooled the network implementation into the (un)expected behaviour?

W2K really behaves rather strange as a networked machine. When the system is not connected, you cannot map a network drive that is available on the local machine. On the other hand, you can browse pages that are served by a webserver on the local machine. Isn't that contradictory behaviour?

Ludo

Hi,I've got the v1 enterprise version installed on my laptop (W2k box). When running in the LAN at home, CIFS is working fine.At the office, I cannot even map the Alfresco repository onto a local drive. If I try to mount it on a Linux (Redhat) machine, I get this:bash-2.05b$ smbclient -L //Alcatraz/A

I cannot map to the alfresco server when I am in a network different than the one where the server is installed.

Please help me if you could.

Thanks,
Sushil

Hi Sushil

Well, as my company IT department upgraded my laptop to WXP, the problem was solved. It seems that the W2K's TCP/IP stack is shaky at times. I'd suggest you move to WXP as well, as it will solve most of the network related issues.

Regards

Ludo
