Hi All,

Like quite a few other peeps, I'm getting a little confused as to how to install/configure Alfresco Community. I am not a WebApp guru, I have a networking background, all things Microsoft; Novell; Linux etc.
I am trying to install Alfresco 2.1 Community onto a CentOS-5 server. I am installing JAVA; MySQL; Apache & Samba during the install of CentOS.

At the server console the following cmd
'/usr/sbin/alternatives –config java' returns:

There is 1 program that provides 'java'.

  Selection Command
———————————————–
*+ 1 /usr/lib/jvm/jre-1.4.2-gcj/bin/java

What I wanted to ask was, where should I be putting the extracted .War file 'alfresco-community-war-2.1.0.tar.gz ' that I downloaded from 'http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=143373&package_id=157460&release_id=524558'?
I do not know where in the file system I need to drop the War file, and how do I start that service?

Also, I read somewhere that I will need:
-'JPackage Java compatibility package for Sun's JDK' but I take it that I would only need this if I was using the SDK rather than the JVM! Please correct me if I am wrong.
-MySQL Java connector. Again, do I need this? & how do I conf.

Any help or suggestions about the easiest possible method of installing a basic Alfresco Community system would be gratefully received.
Once I have demo'ed the product to my management, I may be able to get a budget for the Alfrsco Enterprise version, but until then I need to get a Community version running.

Thanks in advance,
Danny

PS: Although I have a JVM JRE1.4.2 installed do I still need to install something like JBoss or Tomcat?
