Hi. I am trying to upgrade from Alfresco 1.4 to Alfresco 2.9B, following the steps outlined on the General Upgrade Process wiki page. When I try to start up the server, the schema seems to update properly, but Alfresco reports that it cannot locate the content store. I have verified that the cont

Generally speaking it's best to upgrade one major version at a time, so if you're upgrading from 1.4 to, say, 3.0, the sequence would be:
1.4.x -> 2.x.y (2.1.1 as of 2008-01-21)
2.x.y -> 3.0.0

The 2.9B build is a little bit unusual because:
1. it's basically a preview of the 3.0 release, so although the version # is in the 2.x series, it's best to think of it as a member of the 3.x release train
2. it's a beta build, so some non-core functionality (such as the upgrade logic) may not be complete. For this reason it's best to install it fresh and import content into it, rather than attempting an in-place upgrade.
