    <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;There are two "slowdown" effects here:&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;1 - Yes, the CIFS server is slower than a "native" network drive, simply because there's more going on than a bog-standard file system (i.e. the Alfresco repository). It's also dependent on the performance of your database server and it's filesystem.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;2 - Windows Explorer really doesn't scale well over a few hundred files over a network.
