Hi All,

We have a requirement to use Open Office as word processor. (Against Alfresco 2.1.0EE, Tomcat5, Java 1.5, Redhat 5-64 bit, Usermgmt in Alfresco only)

The problem is one user can open an OpenOffice document through the CIFS interface, and another user can open the same document in RW mode as well.
Using Microsoft Office the locking over CIFS is working as expected, the second user get's the MS-Office document in ReadOnly.

Is this common behaviour or a bug? Is there some configuration to get this CIFS + locking working with Open Office documents?

I searched wiki, forums and issuedb, but cannot find any related info.

Thanks in advance!

Tjarda Peelen
Netherlands

Normally, OpenOffice does lock the document for a second user of the same document. It works well on our corporate share (DFS, Distributed File System) on Windows. That's why users complain, they will not migrate to Alfresco if this feature is lost…
