While trying to deploy Alfresco community war-2.1.0 with Tomcat 5.5.17, I am getting the same error.

OS - Windows XP, SP2
Database - MySQL 5.0.45
JDK - 1.6

Please help.

I'm getting the same thing on a new install on Ubuntu Feisty x86, however, I'm just trying to get it running with the default HSQL.

Any help would be great!

It seems to me that you have database parameters being set incorrectly.
My advice is:
1. Read carefully the README files.
2. Take a look at flow: http://forums.alfresco.com/viewtopic.php?t=8575
