Hello,I am trying to provide an Alfresco based soultion to a client. For hardware requirements, are there any pointers that someone can provide me as to how to go about coming up with the required hardware to run Alfresco? I would need to consider #users, #concurrent users, #documents, average size

Thanks for the wiki we are a small flight department like 15 users I'm wanting to build a Linux box and I want to use this to show are two aircraft status basically a white board show hours landing next inspection a calendar to show when aircraft is out of service scheduled employee calendar, employee contact information, vacation schedule calendar for manpower planning and then a parts PO tracking when order was placed part arrived and when it was paid ok enough rambling so do I want a 64 bit system ram of 32gb or more? And two 500 gb in raid or should I have a SSD for system then storage on raid array ? Or will SSD fail with accessing so much writing? Is Debain going to be the most stable or is Ubuntu ok or which system seems to be the most reliable?

The wiki page is 5 yrs old!

It depends on how many concurrent users you have and how much content you want to store. SSD would be great for Lucene/SOLR storage (indexes), Raid HDD probably fine for document storage (content store) as that requires BURST speed rather small random reads/writes (unless you do a lot of Write ops).

Alfresco does not use much memory compared to many CMS solutions - we have found 8GB more than adequate for many, many users. 32GB is plenty!!

Cheers,

Kev

Thanks so much I'm looking forward to jumping in I'm a novice for sure more of a hobbyist and I'm worried I'll get over my head but how else do you learn I'm just tired of being somewhere and not having access to are status and documents my previous company rolled out share point and that is how I found this site I would rather run Linux and open source I'm just started using Libre office and I'm impress how far it has came I've been watching the You Tube for Alfresco and I'm impressed so I'll experiment with community and see if I can persuade a full roll out hosted at are parent company servers either way I think this will help me even on a small home based server good excuse to upgrade to fiber optic connect at home thanks again
