If you want other users to access that image, it should be stored in a public, addressable place, so your local hd won't do.

Upload it to Alfresco and put it into a property of type 'd:noderef'.

Thank you very much for your answer.

I will try to be more specific. I am uploading images to alfresco. One of the properties for the image is small icon that will be its thumbnail (can be different from the picture itself). I dont want to upload the thumbnail image to alfresco but to point out of alfresco to this thumbnail. Is it possible?

Thank you very much in advance

Ah I see what you mean.
That shouldn't be too difficult to achieve: a property of type d:text containing a URL to the thumbnail, and (for example) a custom view displaying that thumbnail in an img tag.

ps. Did you take a look at this forge project? It automatically generates and displays thumbnails for image files.

Regards,

Thank you again for very quick reply

I look at this thumbnail project. It is not good for me because I need to set the thumbnail image (different from original).

About the d:text solution: I thought of that but I was wondering if I can navigate (using some kind of search window) in my computer and choose the thumbnail image instead of writing it path to the text.

Thank you very much
