I confirm it is MySQL and all tables are InnoDB. I will create an issue for it.

Hi,

What's the client OS that you're using to access the Alfresco CIFS server ?.
Are there any errors/exceptions logged in the alfresco.log file ?, if so then can you email the alfresco.log file to me.

Gary,

I restarted the server and asked my colleague to redo
the actions which he always does to trigger the problem.
There are no messages in alfresco.log. Even after the
problem appeared the last message is

Alfresco started (Community version) Current version 2.0.0 - build 185 - schema 38

Anything else you want us to look for?

Hi

When you get into this odd state can you confirm

1) The CIFS view is incorrect
2) The UI view is correct

and then try

3) Finding the files using search in the UI
4) Access to the files via FTP or WebDAV

Is the index information stored on a local disk?

Andy,

sorry for the delay.

1) the CIFS view is incorrect.
2) the Web UI view is correct.
3) search finds the files in the correct folder
4) FTP shows them in the incorrect folder

The index is stored on the local disk.

Sorry to miss one out of the list ….

Can you check that WebDAV shows the correct files.
http://localhost:8080/alfresco/webdav/

It helps us narrow down where the issue lives.

If you could confirm the issue is still present on 2.1 (with the same set of tests) that would also help.

We tried the Webdav interface in the community 2.0 version:

"…and the space that I cannot access via CIFS gives the error

=An error occurred whilst generating the directory listing, please contact the system administrator.=

using WebDav."

In the other space, the Phantom Files appear to be there, but give the error when I try opening them

It appears to us, as if the web client shows the true picture while CIFS, FTP and Webdav do not.

In the meantime we installed 2.1 RC and after two days intensive tries we were not able to reproduce this error.

Same problem here with Alfresco 1.4.3 Enterprise. We have a space that is not accessible via CIFS, FTP or WebDAV but using the web client we can access it. Same permission error as fschnell but it's not security related as even the administrator users get this problem.

For futher reference: rebuilding the indexes did the trick, it's working again. I set the option to VALIDATE, so let's hope I don't have to rebuild the whole bunch when this happens again.

Anyone knows when this happens? My database is set to InnoDB so I thought there would be a rollback when something went wrong?

We use CIFS extensively every day and I have not seen or heard about this issue. I can confirm that there are weird behaviors in CIFS and FTP while the full index is running – but that should not be happening in a production environment.
