Regarding a web environment: check the source code of the Explorer application.

Hi I am able to run the Activiti explorer 5.14 on the Websphere Application server. but as per company policy , I cannot use the data base user table for the users setup and cannot connect to LDAP server directly.. Need to confiure Security role to user/group mapping with WAS LDAP configuration. Is it possible? if yes what should I do in the explorer WAR?

Yes it is possible. You will need to write a custom implementation that does something similar to http://activiti.org/userguide/index.html#N166BB
