Hey there…I'm trying to get the basic Community version up and running on a simple Windows XP box to evaluate for possible Enterprise purchase. The machine doesn't have anything else running on it, it's a simple blank vanilla Windows install.Using the Installation Guide, I installed jdk-6u1-windows

Have you installed the WCM package as well? I encountered a similar thing which was resolved when I installed the WCM package for my platform.

My understanding (albeit very simple) is that the WCM is used for Web access aswell as for creating web content - I maybe completely wrong though.

Can you confirm which packages you installed:

AlfrescoCommunity-2.0-Setup.exe
AlfrescoWCMCommunity-2.0-Setup.exe
