Problem installing alfresco 2.1 RC on CentOS 5.0 x86-64

I have succesfully installed alfresco on CentOS 4.4 and 5.0 (32 bit). I am now trying to install it on CentOS 5.0 x86-64 and it doesn't start at all. Well, I guess it 'Failed to get server IP address'…

Have you properly configured the network adapter on the machine?
Have you got a fully qualified entry for the machine in the hosts file?

We do have Alfresco working on other varieties of 64bit Linux and Unix derivatives, so I am assuming that it should work on yours.

I think so–wget and lynx work from the server, and I can ssh without any difficulty…also I get the tomcat server fine from across the internet.

The host files says

127.0.0.1 localdomain.localhost localhost
::1 localdomain6.localhost6 localhost6

There's nothing uncommented in hosts.allow or hosts.deny

Hi,

My Linux machines have an extra line in the hosts file:

Yours:

127.0.0.1 localdomain.localhost localhost
::1 localdomain6.localhost6 localhost6

Mine:

192.168.0.45   qarhel5.<domain> qarhel5
127.0.0.1       localhost.localdomain   localhost       qarhel5
::1     localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6

You could try adding the machine's IP and name as above.

My machine doesn't have a local adress because it's not behind a router,and I haven't setup DNS for its ip, but neither did I for the (local) CentOS 5 (32 bit) install, which has the same exact hosts file, and works fine.

Anybody? Considering Alfresco's close relationship with Red Hat, it's curious that thereÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s not more interest in getting it working with their current offering (Not a criticism…just wondering.) Oh, SELinux is disabled

It does, in fact it is 208.70.150.161

But the tomcat part works (across the internet), so how could there be a problem with its IP address? But I'm game–what do you think I should put in the hosts file exactly?

Hi,

Something along the lines of:

208.70.150.161 <machinename>.<domain> <machinename>
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost <machinename>
::1 localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6

Obviously check the formatting of your specific variety of Linux/Unix first.
