I have a problem accessing a CIFS drive from a Windows Vista (Ultimate, 6.0.6000) client. More specifically, logging in does not work, while it works alright from an XP client. I use the same procedure on both clients: I am trying to map a network drive and set the username/password explicitly.Tryin

I found a workaround for Vista…

Windows Vista, by default, sends a "NTLMv2 response" only. See:
http://wiki.williams.edu/display/docs/Windows+Vista+Networking

There you also find a registry patch that enables sending the password in the old format.

Btw, are there any plans to add support for SMB 2.0?

Hi,

For Vista clients to be able to connect to the JLAN/AIFS server you need to use the Enterprise authenticator :-

<authenticator>
    <class>
      com.starla.server.auth.EnterpriseCifsAuthenticator
    </class>

I don't think SMB 2.0 support is a priority at the moment as it would only be useful to Vista clients, keeping an eye on it though.
