Hi,

I am planing on installaing Alfresco on a server for it self. I do allready have a nice fast MSSQL server but i am not sure if its better to just install the MYSQL server on the server that Alfresco will run from.

Resons i am thinking about is what way would be best regarding backup of Alfresco and disaster recovery.

How big will the SQL database grow, will it be over 2GB with around 1 mill. files?

Thanks!

Hi,
http://forums.alfresco.com/viewtopic.php?t=873
As I say in that post, the best is to take a sample set of documents and load the server up a bit to see. I'm pretty sure that 2GB will be passed before 1 million documents, especially if you have versioning, etc. That being said, we'll be refactoring some of the DB schema to reduce the size quite significantly in an upcoming release.

Having the DB on the same machine as the server is obviously not ideal for performance. I wouldn't say it was better to have it that way. If you're confortable with MSSQL, then use it.

Regards
