Space permissions

I am trying to understand how I can restrict access to folders and files.How can I manage user access to spaces?Presently when I go to user homes, I can see all user homes, spaces and files for each user. Is there a way of blockng this, or allowing permission to those that I invite to access the spa

When you are in a space, you can select "manage space users' from the 'more actions' menu. You can then invite whomever you want to the space and set their permissions.

I think everyone has read permissions by default.
Try to checkout the "Inherit Parent Space Permissions" box in the "Manage Space Users" wizard and invite only the people whom you want to give read access to the space.

All people have read permission because on root space EVERYONE group have consumer rights. So all spaces which inherit permissions give same rights to EVERYONE.
So you can disable EVERYONE rights on root space or you can disable inherit on some space.
