Hi Jason,

There are a lot of people reading I promise! I've been around here for a while and I don't recall many posts about transitioning from Vignette but there have been several community members that have worked with the product. I think there are also members of the Alfresco team that have familiarity with the product.

It could be that in this form we are just not able to give you good enough information to answer your questions. Why don't we try another approach:

What are you looking to do, about how many documents/what type of content are you trying to handle? What was Vignette doing for you that you really like and what did it stink at that you want to see go away?

If these are things for one reason or another you don't want to post here you could try writing this information to Alfresco directly at info.at.alfresco.com or contacting members of the community.
