I see no specific reason an exception event should not work (might be that it is not implemented yet, but other than that it should work I think)

and i would like a service task that can be used along side a boundry timer event.

That is what you technically think you want, but this is not a functional description.

the userguide 5.6 boundry timer event example does not function given that the steps are service tasks and not user tasks.
You mean the example with the cancelActivity? That is not what you need do you? At least you do not write that above in the description of what you want.

if some java code is executing for to long, the event should be triggered and another process should be executed.
I see no reason for this not to work…

I have no idea what an interrupt handler in bpmn is, so I cannot comment on that. Regarding the timer events, yes they work on service task with probably the exception that cancelActivity might not work on running service tasks.

But I get the impression I do not tell you anything new.

I'd like to ask again… What is it you want to achieve? Functional wise, not technical…

when using boundry timer events in conjunction with java service tasks -> if the timer is triggered -> there is a thread pool exception.

see the other post about timer events that i had posted that has since been ignored for the error message.

Ok I did not explicitly mention the cancelActivity attribute but hey, you are intelligent, right, so you could have figured this out.

http://forums.activiti.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2108&p=8824#p8824
