I just downloaded Alfresco and it looks like a very good product. I am hoping it can help us with managing property files for our application.

We have a web application written with J2EE/Spring. We have externalized all of the property files to live outside of the web applications on an external web server. When the apps start they download the property files from this web server and periodically check if any of the files have changed.

Right now we are managing these property files through CVS. I would love to use a content management system such as Alfresco to manage this content and publish to the external web servers.

Is this possible with Alfresco?

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

Publishing content from the repository is functionality that is not currently available, however a contribution was recently made by the a member of our development community that may be well suited to your requirements.

Have a look at this thread for the details http://www.alfresco.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1105. I've had a look at the code and got it up and running, and was able to publish to local and ftp drives.

Its not a final solution to the problem, but Russ has done a good job of getting something off the ground that covers some of the basic use cases.

When we tackle content publishing for real is still undecided, I guess it will depend on how much demand there is for it within the community.

Hope this helps,
Roy
