Have you found a solution?

I, too, am looking for a good approach to add the meta data value to a node. The property is defined as an aspect (so it goes across all content types) but the value is based on which specialized content model is selected.

Not as yet… it may be something that we build in the next couple of months if we need it for a project we're working on. Will let you know if anything does get built
