Does attribution apply if you have a custom program that communicates with alfresco over JSR-170? (i.e. the gui is not derived from Alfresco's)What if you have a number of such programs (custom, not derived from Alfresco) that need to communicate with a common content repository over a web service.

One interesting example is Zimbra - they separated backend and web client, and provide it under different licenses. (http://www.zimbra.com/license/collaboration_suite_collective_license_1.0.html)

Backend is MPLed, and frontend has similar attribution (http://www.zimbra.com/license/zimbra_public_license_1.2.html)

They also clarify, that this attribution applies in case you are redistributing the product.

Yes, please, clearing this mess would be very desireable, and, as much as I can see how attribution is probably important to your busines.s model, OSI approved license for Alfresco is something I would very very much like to see.

Hope to hear nice news soon
