Defference between Service class and Listeners

Hi, guys I'm confuse by these tow element. In which scenario I should use service class(Properties->Main config), and which one I should use listeners? I can find the listeners config even in the sequenceflow, I think there must be a better practice I don't know yet, please offer me some inform

One aspect is that you can "see" service tasks in the graphical diagram. You cannot "see" the listeners. So listeners is a way to add technical details to the process, without changing the diagram.

That would be one way of looking at it.
