Hello,

this error/warning is most likely related to <a href="http://docs.alfresco.com/5.0/concepts/email-inboundsmtp-props.html">inbound email</a> service via SMTP which by default uses port 25. But port 25 is in the range of ports considered to be "secure" where there may already be another service listening in (CentOS mail daemon) or the application may - unless a specific configuration is set - not be allowed to use the port. Alfresco continues to enhance the environment validation as part of the installer which may be the reason this was not checked in 5.0.a but it now checked in 5.0.b. Unless you want your Alfresco system to be able to receive and file emails, you should not need inbound email and can safely deactivate it, ignoring the warning during installation, and should not get an issue during startup.

Hello,

Unfortunatelly due to this error i can't send emails from Alfresco using port 25 (Exchange Server within my network).
I made some tests and using a GMAIL account emails are sent from alfresco (SMTPS port 465), so the problem should be between port 25 and Alfresco install.

Strange is that i also made 2 other fresh Operating System installs (CentOS 6 & CentOS7) and the release Alfresco Community 5.0.b always shows this error during installation.

On the next tests i will perform a install on some other Linux distro and find out if the error is CentOS related.

You are probably confusing sending emails with receiving emails. Alfresco uses port 25 to receive emails, not send them. Your linux install probably has another email server on it.

Hi,

Found a simple solution for the problem (for installing Alfresco Community Edition without errors).
Before installing this release of Alfresco (5.0.b) remove the following package and dependencies:

PostFix Mail Transport Agent (postfix-2:2.6.6-6.el6_5 x86_64)

After this the installation of Alfresco (5.0.b) on CentOS 6 or 7 its completed without errors.
Seems that on CentOS the PostFix Mail Transport Agent package is there by default or possibly installed during updates.

This might be usefull when combining CentOS and Alfresco 5.0.b.
