Sites Manager actions not working

When I go to Admin Tools >> Sites Manager and click on the Actions >> Become Site Manager, the "I'm a site manager" never changes from no to yes. In order to add myself as site manager, I must go to groups and find the site manager group and add myself to it. The Become Site Manager me

Can you please state which version of Alfresco you are currently using? I have used that action in the 5.1.g version (201605-GA) without issues so far. Using the action may require a page reload for all menu options / dashlet displays to be updated though.
