Hello everybody,

Today I wanted to install OpenOffice, but somehow the "sudo apt-get install openoffice.org" command wont work, no install candidate was found. So I manually downloaded OpenOffice and installed it, without any chance to choose the install directory, dunno why?!?!?! SO OpenOffice is now installed on /opt/openoffice4

Is there any way to configure alfresco so it uses this installed openoffice?

I want to get the MS Office documents preview working.

You can install alfresco normally as you do it.
And after installation, open the alfresco-global.properties file.
Set these properties (openoffice path) to your actual openoffice installed directory.

http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Setting_up_OpenOffice_for_Alfresco
http://docs.alfresco.com/4.0/tasks/oo-install.html
