Well even if you are not searching document in alfresco categorization based on folder(space and folder are same thing for alfresco) will help you in managing contents. Just because of curiosity what exactly you are using Alfresco for?

We are using alfresco store documents related to legal entities and in alfresco , we are not storing any custom metadata related to documents, we are just storing the document and later on we will search
documents using the UUID.

What I saw is even when we created folder and stored the document in the folder on the filesystem it did not create any folder.

So from database perspective will it be easy to search in a folder using the UUID , rather than not having folder structure and having a documents at one place
