Hello,I am using alfersco community 4I planned to you use the multi-user features of MS Office 2007 and 2010.So, when a document is being edited by a user, other users trying to edit the same document have the option :-1.open a read only copy2.create a local copy and merge your changes later3.receiv

First two features are already available. Even one user is editing a document you can download and edit it in your local and merge the changes once it is available for edit.The only thing missing is email. I think there is also a rule you can configure on space for that.

Dear mitpatoliya

It means more than one user can not edit a document online simultaneously at the same time.For editing one user waiting for the document available for editing(online).This options are available in file servers also so there is no difference between them.

will there be an update to edit a document online simultaneously in any future alfresco release, similar to microsoft?

Unlikely in the short and medium term. The googledocs integration allows you to to edit a doc at the same time.

While the document is locked for editing by user1, user2 can Download the document and then make changes to it. How can changes be merged after that?
