Does Alfresco 4.2 can be purely delete files and reduces the disk space? Alf 3.X removed the files, but disk space is still growing

I moved your post out of the Announcement forum to one that is more applicable.

Alfresco does not permanently delete content by default, it just puts items in the trash area.

You can configure a content store cleaner. "Documentation" is here:
