Sounds like you should upgrade. What version of alfresco are you using?

we are using Alfresco 4.0 and our alfresco performance is very slow. we are only 250 files able to upload in 1 hour

I don't think you can split your lucene index in two. If you do that then you will have problems combining the two results. Perhaps your best bet will be to work out how to improve your existing index. There will probably be stuff you don't need or stuff you can tune. However that will probably require a reindex which may be painful at that size.

Another approach will be to upgrade to 5.0. But I'd hold off for 5.1 which is due in a couple of weeks. 5.1 has beefed up sharding, as well as being much faster generally.
