Hello Luckyj,

I believe that Alfresco's "check-out" feature achieves what you want: "Check-out" to lock a file, then "check-in" or "cancel check-out" to unlock the file.

Three years ago I implemented this feature as open source for Linux: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMzeaJrN0fg
The source code is available here: https://github.com/nicolas-raoul/AlfrescoLinuxMacCheckInOut
You can use it in parallel with Alfresco Desktop Sync, no problem.
Of course, it won't work offline.

I also implemented this exact feature in CmisSync Business for Windows. See here.

Is it possible to lock and unlock files while using a client to sync sites to a local folder? Something like a context menu option or similar? I'm looking to streamline workflow, and having to go to the web page to lock and unlock files is a problem. Thanks
