how to add internal user

Hi all,I installed the Alfresco Community Edition recently and it using the localhost 127.0.0.1:8080 for my site.I want to add the internal user but in vain. I checked the documentation and even no idea.Grateful if someone can help me.Thanks,Wayne

This video was helpful when I was first learning how to add users (In fact I followed along with most of these tutorial videos at first because I found the material easier to digest from a brand new user's perspective).

And I added the user but i can not receive any email notification, e.g user's email is user@yahoo.com

Sorry for the ambiguous and let me reconstruct my question in simple.

As under the "http://127.0.0.1:8080/share/page/", i can create "new user" and assign the email address, eg. newuser1@yahoo.com,
then I create a task and set the newuser1 as reviewer as well as select email notification but no email received finally.

Can u figure out why the newuser1 cannot receive email please?

Have you actually set up outbound email in alfresco-global.properties? And if you have, are you sure its working?

Is it because i sending outbound email hence it require for set of outbound email?

In-addition, if i send the for the internal user instead, is it available to issue the email? (without any configure or set up anything)
Kindly for your advise pls.

Hi wayenng,

Not sure I understand what you mean by "if I send for the internal user instead", but if you want to receive a mail based on doing something in Alfresco, then Alfresco needs to understand how to send mail - so you will need some kind of outbund SMTP server setup configured.

The good news is that you don't you don't need to install a local email to do this. You can use e.g. gmail or yahoo to do the heavy work and just add a couple of lines in your global.properties file as shown here: http://docs.alfresco.com/community/concepts/email-outboundsmtp-props.html

There are example settings for gmail at the bottom, or you can point at a company SMTP server if you have one just as easily
