New Alfresco install assistance

Hello, I am brand new to alfresco and have come across a snag in testing this application. I really don't understand the log file and was hoping that someone could take a look at to why the alfresco.war file wont start.What I see at the beginning of the log file is something about the MySQL. From the log file it seems your mysql user was not able to connect to the DB
in alfresco-global.properties , you have not mentioned the password

 
db.driver=org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver
db.name=alfresco
db.url=jdbc:mysql://localhost/alfresco?useUnicode=yes&characterEncoding=UTF-

also check from the command line whether you are able to connect to the DB "alfresco" using user "alfresco"
by giving
mysql -ualfresco -pURPASS alfresco
Also cross check whether you have created a database named "alfresco"
when you post the error message please use code tag, if u do so it will be easy for other to check and help

Hello,
I have the same problem, and We created the database, freshly, restored with existing backup (we are trying to upgrade alfresco, from 4.2.4 to patch, 4.2.6.1) and I face this issue, after I re-compile the custom Java Classes against Alfreasco 4.2.6.1.
I checked the property file and the UID and PWD are already present.
