I was hoping that there was a way to use tags or categories or maybe properties to search for and gather the individual documents. I'll revisit Componize. Thanks again.

In Word, you can create a master document that contains links to sub-documents. When the master document is opened or printed, it pulls the content from the sub-documents and creates a single document. One of the issues with this is that the sub-documents have to be all in the same folder. I also th

It certainly depends on the type of document and client application that you work with. If such a client application is able to include references to other documents that may be stored on a server in an arbitrary location and pull them when necessary (maybe via CMIS) then this is possible. Off the top of my head I know none...

There are also other types of solutions aimed at componizing document creation. One such is called "Componize" and is a solution to build complex documents / artifacts out of smaller fragments / parts, or in your terms a "master document" out of "sub documents".

You can certainly use Alfresco data model associations and other constructs to form such kinds of relationships. You would have to develop any kind of aggregation logic yourself. I have done similar things in customer projects over the years.

I just assumed you are more interested in a ready-to-use / out-of-the-box solution.
