Hello.I know this issue discussed many times on the forum, but after reading all the topics I couldn't find clear answer.I installed alfresco community 5.0.a on ubuntu server.Documentation says sharepoint module is installed by default. I checked /alfresco-5.0.a/tomcat/webapps/alfresco/WEB-INF/class

Confirming that I'm having the same issue on a Debian host. MMT says SPP is installed, and the Context folder exists after installing the SPP AMP for 4.2f, but we still have no edit online button. The button will appear if https://code.google.com/p/alfresco-share-online-edition-addon/ is installed but even then it doesn't do anything, presumably because it isn't using Sharepoint protocol? I saw that addon suggested on an older post here and tried it out of desperation but I don't think that is part of the fix we need.

I experienced the same issues on CentOS 6.5 64bits (also same problem on Windows 7 server host) with Alfresco 5.0a Community and installed by the 5.0a installer. There is no online edit option under My Files, Shared files and repository. Online edit can be shown under Site but document cannot be opened when clicked on Online Editing and only MS Office is opened (status show server connection is pending). Checked that org.alfresco.module.vti is already installed but there is no Context directory created. There is no vti.server.external.host and vti.server.external.port properties in the alfresco-global.properties file. Any suggestion to fix this?

there is no context directory after installing the alfresco-spp.amp, I also downloaded the sourcecode and compiled it with maven, same result, no context folder - no button.

any solution?

Been going through all the forums and searching online but it seems that any version of the sharepoint module use, be that the one with the bin installer or the one downloaded from their wiki site (apart from the older versions that throw up errors) just doesnt install the context file, a quick look at the preview of the install shows this:

   - Removing file '/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/module/org.alfresco.module.vti/module-context.xml' from war
   - Removing file '/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/module/org.alfresco.module.vti/modifications.install' from war
   - Removing file '/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/module/org.alfresco.module.vti/module.properties' from war
Adding files relating to version '1.3' of module 'org.alfresco.module.vti'

Would be great if there is a solution to this as without this we wont be able to roll these changes out.

I'm not sure the missing

context‍

folder has anything to do with this problem. It is still present, but is packaged inside

alfresco-spp.jar‍

which is part of the AMP. Its content should therefore be in the classpath and it should work just as well.

Did anyone actually tried bringing the folder back, and made sure the SPP module was working correctly afterwards?

Hi,
excuse me but i would like to reopen this discussion because a week ago I installed Alfresco 5.0C on Ubuntu 14.0 and until now I can not solve this problem.

If i open http://<ip server alfresco>/7070 i can see SharePoint running but i can't see the online edit botton and i don't have de context directory.

I was going to try what slanglois suggested, having looked through the java file i was able to extract the 'context' file and was going to place this onto our test systems with the latest upgrade to see if this made the difference. However I'm on a change freeze currently so have been unable to get onto the systems to do anything. Once out of it i'll be able to add more to this.

In the mean time if it helps we're on version 4-2.d and everything works fine on this.

About "There is no online edit option under My Files" :

Only appears in a document that is within a site. I alfresco use 5.0.c and it works well with Microsoft office 2010

The "Edit Online" option does appear in 5.0.c, provided you create the document in a site, not in My Files.

Can others confirm it is actually working for them as well?

The UI evaluator (https://github.com/Alfresco/community-edition/blob/master/projects/slingshot/config/alfresco/slingshot-documentlibrary-context.xml#L312 ) specifically requires that the content is part of a site. I've not tried it, but I believe that this requirement could be safely removed by overriding that evaluator, if anyone needs to do so on 5.0.c.

Sorry for posting a an older forum, thought I would update just for people who may still be having problems. I managed to extract the context folder from the jar file (using winrar) and placed this into

/webapps/alfresco/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/module/org.alfresco.module.vti/

after this had to make sure that the correct vti settings were used within the alfresco-global.properties:
vti.server.port=7070
vti.server.external.host=${localname}
vti.server.external.port=${vti.server.port}

I did find the latest release notes (for 5.0.d) to be alot more handy with a few things to check on.
