Unable to start /alfresco and /share

Hi, I'm new to Alfresco.I've downloaded and installed Alfresco Community 4.2 32-bit exe from Alfresco website on my Windows 7 laptop. But clicking on /alfresco and /share takes me to 'Not connected' page.Is it that I must install MySQL into my laptop as well? I'm currently installing this version, h

As I had mentioned on other forum you need not to install any database explicitly unless you had specific requirement.

Thank you, for now I don't have any specific requirements, my purpose is only to play around with the features.

If the database is not the problem, why can't I still access to /alfresco or /share?
Which thread should I post this about?

First you need to do some reading then you need to post more details. There is not enough information above to diagnose a problem.

Thank you for the reply.

I am able to start /alfresco now after running the server, and I have created a few users.

But when I want to access through /share,
I get this error

HTTP Status 404 - /share

type Status report

message /share

description The requested resource is not available.
Apache Tomcat/7.0.42

How do I resolve this?

Have you changed any default ports during installation? Have you checked the logs?

I didn't change anything during installation.
Attached are the log files that I have from /Alfresco folder.
