Hi all,
i'm using Alfresco Community 4.2.c and i've successfully configured Alfresco to send email.
Now i'm thinking to notify another system about the document archived in a certain folder, something like 'if a document is uploaded here then send an email to…'.
I really like this approach because it has no effort and it's really simple to implement.
My only doubt is if the mail mechanism is robust in Alfresco: if the mail server is down what will happen? Does Alfresco have a sort of queue of the email to send?

I've searched in the official documentation but i didn't find what i was looking for…i retrieved only the configuration explanation…

Thanks in advance to anyone who have some informations and want to share!

No. Alfresco does not have a queue. That's the responsibility of your email server.

Email in general is not really suitable for "notification" since its non transactional. Its designed for informal communication with people.
However if your requirements are not rigorous then it will probably be fine.
