Using embedded JLAN library as stand-alone

Recently I learned that JLAN library is no longer supported as a stand-alone product. It is part of the Alfresco application. I found alfresco-jlan-embed-6.2.jar inside share.war. Unfortunately I couldn't used it as drop-in replacement for the old JLAN 6.0.0 stand-alone version because class org.alf

There is no documentation for this use case. There is no official support for using JLAN outside of Alfresco / any of its constitutent applications, including embedding it in a 3rd party application

Axel, please tell me, for some reason, it was decided not to support Jlan-server? The company has plans to continue to develop a file server (In Alfresco or stand-alone)?

I cannot speak for Alfresco the company because I am just a regular member of the community. But the fact that the standalone JLAN library has not received a public release since 2009 should be enough evidence to realize that the standalone use case is no longer being actively supported.

The Alfresco ECM product will likely continue to have integrated file server capabilities. A few community members are urging Alfresco to improve on these capabilities because they are incredibly outdated, i.e. to add SMB 3.1.1 support. But these requests have so far not have had sufficient priority / potential in the eyes of Alfresco management to be worked on.
