Hi @ all,

sorry to push up an old topic but I've the same problem with the missing jars like Activiti-Starter, after following the installation guide and setup demo.
Is there an "automated" solution to get all required jars in the correct folders or why this missing jar problem is still alive in the new version (5.9)?
Tryed already "demo.clean" and the "examples.inflate".

thanks and regards
max

Hi it's me again ^^

after a long night i figured out a working setup for Activiti
I used the Activiti release 5.4 (the one wich worked)

If you are a Win7User without admin-rights, do the following
Follow the setup as showen in the guide for setting up ANT
and the JDK
now, you have to download the required files wich are asked for during the installation by hand.
These are:
- apache tomcat

- activiti-modeler
http://activiti.org/downloads/activiti-modeler-5.4.war

now unzip the activiti archive wich you downloaded (again, use version 5.4)
and create on the same level as the unzipped folder a new folder "downloads"
save the downloaded files from above into it.

next you can execute the ant demo.start command by navigating to the setup
file in the activiti-5.4 folder in your console.

The setup should run properly and all tools should been set up after a while for you since the setup didn't need
to download the files as it looks up form them in your created download folders

Greeting,
Activiti-starter

I've just hit the same problem I believe in the 5.7 distribution. In Eclipse, the .classpath file contains pointers to libraraies that don't exist in the distribution. For example the .classpath for the cxf-examples contains the following entries:

<classpathentry kind="lib" path="libs-runtime/commons-lang-2.4.jar"/>
<classpathentry kind="lib" path="libs-runtime/commons-logging-1.1.1.jar"/>
<classpathentry kind="lib" path="libs-runtime/cxf-api-2.1.2.jar"/>

the libs-runtime directory for the cxf example does not contain commons-lang-2.4.jar at all, does contain commons-logging-1.1.1.jar, and does not contain cxf-api-2.1.2.jar, but does contain cxf-api-2.3.1.jar.

Is the problem with the classpath file, or are there libraries missing from the distro?

Had the same problem with version 5.8.

It looks like the build path contains references to old jars. (for instance the cfx-api-2.1.2.jar is upgraded to cfx-api-2.3.1.jar)

To solve the problem I first removed for every eample project listed in the package explorer all the libraries on the libraries tab from the buildpath except the JRE System Library [jre6]. And then I added for each project all the jars found in the libs-runtime and libs-test subdirectories of the project.

Now the project builds with no errors.

Hi @ all,

sorry to push up an old topic but I've the same problem with the missing jars like Activiti-Starter, after following the installation guide and setup demo.
Is there an "automated" solution to get all required jars in the correct folders or why this missing jar problem is still alive in the new version (5.9)?
Tryed already "demo.clean" and the "examples.inflate".

thanks and regards
max

This problem is there even with activiti5.9.
Fix: Go to libraries configuration in eclipse and remove all the jars marked with red 'x'.
It seems the eclipse '.classpath' is built from an ant build file which consists of jars which are no more relevant. Eclipse reports errors for references of any jars that it cannot locate.
