This blog says it can't be done, Office 365 is not an email relay. http://office365support.ca/smtp-relay-with-office-365/

Thanks for your response. We have a local exchange server and I have tested it within an alfresco 4 and it works.

This works for me:

### SMTP
mail.host=smtp.office365.com
mail.port=25
mail.username=myUser@myDomain.com
mail.password=password
mail.protocol=smtp
mail.smtp.auth=true
mail.smtp.starttls.enable=true
mail.from.default=myUser@myDomain.com
mail.from.enabled=false
