I think you need to change all url's which are pointing to alfresco repository.
As It might be still using "http" instead of "https"

I commented out the SSL connector in server.xml and reverted back to HTTP in urls yet the problem still persists. Had to restore the Alfresco directory to an earlier point to fix the problem. Tried implementing SSL again and the same problem resulted.

What URLs would need to be changed? Are there any guides on how to set up SSL?

I successfully configured the SSL connection. Can hit Alfresco through a verified HTTPS session. However I still get "Error loading items" for the Site Content dashlet on individual sites, and the My Documents dashlet on individuals' dashboards.

Is this a problem with SOLR or the indexing service? I can still see, download, and upload documents with the Document Library and Repository. However whenever I search for documents it brings up 0 hits.

Any advice on how to properly set this up would be much appreciated!
