Hi
I have successfully done some upgradation, I used to follow the follwoing method.
(1) Before taking backup of alfresco, I disable indexing, start the service then stop the service to take the backup up.
(2) When I copy contents of 'alf_data', I only copy the 'contentstore' and 'contentstore.deleted' directory, I dont copy other directoy
(3) after upgrading do the necessay changes for enabling indexing in 'alfresco-gloabl.properties'

this method, works fine with me.

Yes, you restore it after you had finished installed the latest version(rember dont start the service, when asked to do by the installation)

I thought it is mandatory to start service after alfresco is installed in order to get the whole base in working shape.Oh well I will trie not to start the service once again and i will post here.

Anyway about your mini guide 😃

I think I am missing something.
First this is back up and restore procedure, not upgrade.

But I still tried to do as you mentioned above. What I did was:
1. Stoped my working base, turned off indexing. Stop-start the services and make a pg_dump.
2. Copied content store and deleted content to plus dump file to the other PC
3. Installed 4.0e (instead of 4.0d) restored the postgres db. Copied content store and deleted content

Tried to check the global properties to change solr but this file was already with indexing on. Mby before restoring I need to turn indexes of on this mashine also on the clean alfresco?

After the installation the problem is the same - SSL CERT says its updated but I keep getting the same error.
I bellieve it is somehow related to the fact that on the original base the ssl cert waas expired and I made another one manually. Now it somehow prevents me to create a new one on this other PC.

Am I missing something?

It worked! Thank you very much, bisana! Is there some sort of karma on this forums to show you my appreciation? )

For anyone who might search this issue later:

1. Stop your working base, turnoff indexing in alfresco_global settings. start-stop the services and make a pg_dump.
2. Copy content store and deleted content store form alf_data dir of the old base plus add a pg_dump file
3. Install clean version of alfresco and (IMPORTANT!) do not start it after the installation (installer will ask you about it)
4. Copy content store and deleted content store to alf_data dir if you did everything right than in the alf_data dir there should not be those folders.
5. Enjoy!

P.S. dont forget to turn indexes on in global properties of your working system.
