Cannot log into Alfresco after forced shutdown

I had to shutdown my Alfresco Server because of a problem with my VM. I am currently running Alfresco on a Virtual Machine with the operating system being ubuntu. When I brought back the VM online, and restart the Alfresco Server, I could not log in to Alfresco. I have reviewed both the Catalina.

Before starting to do a recover, do you have a backup of your current state. And backup from before it crashed. Of course you do :wink:

Looks like your index is corrupted, try rebuilding the index.
In alfresco-global.properties, put
index.recovery.mode=FULL
Then restart.
Remember to set it back to
index.recovery.mode=AUTO when done, else it will reindex on next start as well.

I inserted the line index.recovery.mode=Full in my alfresco-global.properties file, and I still get the same error as before.

I am not sure what you are speaking about in terms of the backup, was it the VM? If it was I do not have a snapshot of the VM before the crash, and the data is mission critical for me.

I am wondering, before doing the reindexing, do I have to delete the relevant lucene-indexes folder? if this is the case, which folder should be deleted?

Re-indexing works. I had to remove the lucene-index files, which were located in the alf_data directory. Modify the alfresco-global.properties file changing to index.recovery.mode=FULL. Alfresco was then restarted. The alfresco-global.properties file was modify by changing the index.recovery.mode=AUTO
